Bumaco has an exclusive partnership with Bochumer Eisenhütte, with a special focus on offshore hollow sections and pipes. Thanks to this collaboration, we can offer our customers high-quality products that meet the strictest requirements within the offshore industry.
Bochumer Eisenhütte is especially known as a leading supplier of profiles for both the mining and tunneling sectors. With decades of experience and in-depth material knowledge, they have built a strong international reputation, also within the on- and offshore sectors.
What distinguishes Bochumer Eisenhütte is their advanced heat treatment technology of profiles and pipes. Because Bumaco supplies the raw material, they can quickly and efficiently produce hollow sections according to offshore standards and quality, including testing and associated 3.1 or 3.2 certificate with CE marking.
These two related standards originated from the old DIN standards 1629 and 2458 and actually form the basis for all tube standards for structural purposes. Since the end of the 19th century, weldable steel – widely available since the invention of the Bessemer process – has been used in constructions instead of wood or cast iron. And tubes, whether round or rectangular, are extremely suitable for this due to their rigidity in all directions. Just think of traffic portals, roof structures, fences, crane booms, etc. Maybe not as spectacular as a storm surge barrier or a lifting platform, but still essential for good infrastructure. So don't underestimate these “normal” but important standards.
For your information... in the Netherlands, we use about 6.2 million tons of steel annually. That is almost 1 kilo of steel per person per day. For everything from buildings and cars to household appliances.
Of course, Bumaco also supplies these types of tubes, but with higher requirements and more extensive testing. As you are used to from Bumaco. So Western European material with CE marking, impact testing at -50 ֯C instead of -20 ֯C, a low carbon content and carbon equivalent for good weldability, and so on.
Because doing what others do is not for us. We simply apply “a different standard”.
EN 10210 and EN 10219 construction tubes are designed for construction applications where strength, dimensional accuracy, and weldability are essential, and are widely used in modern steel construction, mechanical engineering, and infrastructure projects.
For load-bearing structures of buildings such as columns, beams, trusses, and portals in residential, commercial, and high-rise construction.
In bridge girders, support structures, portals, and masts due to the high strength-to-weight ratio and modular processability.
For parts of offshore wind turbines, platforms, and support structures where strength is important.
For frames, foundations, and support structures of machines, conveyors, and installations in industrial environments.
For applications such as traffic portals, light poles, noise barriers, and station constructions.
Due to the sleek design of tube profiles, they are often used in visible work such as facade structures, stairs, canopies, and coverings.
At Bumaco, you are assured of fast delivery and a wide selection. We have an extensive stock of approximately 7,000 tons of steel pipes, directly available from our own warehouse.
Thanks to this wide range, we can meet almost any demand, whether it concerns standard sizes or heavy, industrial applications. Our stock consists of both seamless and welded pipes, suitable for various sectors such as oil & gas, petrochemicals, construction, and machinery.
