API 5L: Standard for steel pipes
The API 5L standard is an international standard for steel pipes intended for the transport of oil, gas, water, and other liquids in pipeline systems. This standard is established by the American Petroleum Institute (API) and contains specifications for production, material quality, testing methods, and strength classes of pipes.
Application areas for which API 5L pipes are intended:
API 5L pipes are used in systems for the transport of liquids and gases under pressure. They are specifically designed for, among others, the following applications:
Petrochemical Industry
For the transport of chemical products and by-products within industrial installations or between production units.
Water transport
For industrial or municipal applications, such as cooling water systems, long-distance drinking water pipelines, or irrigation projects.
